Camp, hike, cycle, golf, fish - the natural beauty of the Mentone area will make it all that much more enjoyable. If the mountain gets a winter cold snap, you might even be able to ski! So get out and go.
Mountainous Desoto State Park offers rushing waterfalls, wildflowers, and views that will simply take your breath away. Stay at the inn, rent a cabin, or bring your tent or RV for camping. DeSoto Falls, which is located about seven miles north, is part of the park.
Play our mountain-top 18-hole golf course and also enjoy camping, fishing, and canoeing at the lake. The clubhouse has been recently remodeled.
Since 1970, advanced snowmaking equipment and patient professional instruction have provided Cloudmont’s ski expansion to include two one-thousand foot, beginner-intermediate slopes. Two “pony lifts” take skiers to the top of the slopes that have an elevation of 1,800 feet and a vertical rise of 150 feet.
Little River flows for most of its length atop Lookout Mountain in northeast Alabama. Forested uplands, waterfalls, canyon rims and bluffs, pools, boulders, and sandstone cliffs offer settings for a variety of recreational activities. Little River Canyon is a National Preserve and part of the National Park Service.
